How to reserve stock

Traditionally, reservations were generated for customers. However, it is now possible to have different types of reservations. The list of reservation types is configured by the head office team and filtered to specific stores. A reservation can be for putting stock aside for a customer, for a customer request for an item, or for a way of removing faulty return stock from "free" stock so that it doesn't show as a available for purchase. Once a reservation is created, it must be followed up as a secondary process. i.e. Either convert the reservation into a sale OR remove the reservation.

Reservations can be created automatically as part of a "returns" or "order reassignment" process (depending on reasons selected).  Alternatively, they can be created manually. The process for creating a reservation is:

  1. Sign on using the sales person sign-on code and password
  2. Scan the barcode of the item that is to be place on reservation OR use the standard <F12> product search
  3. Repeat point 2 for all products that are to be placed on reservation
  4. When all products have been scanned/selected use the mouse or the <alt+z> function to select Alt+Z Reserve
  5. If reservation types are configured, an option will display to select the type of reservation and any "notes" relating to that reservation
  6. If select a Customer reservation type, the customer search will display. Search for an existing customer by typing First name, Surname and Email and F12 to search. Select from the list or Alt+N to sign up a new customer. Use <F9> or the mouse to select <F9 Accept> once the customer information has been entered
  1. When reservation is completed, a docket or reservation labels are printed (depending on the reservation type configuration at head office). For customer reservations, a customer docket is generated if there is no stock available. A store docket is generated if stock is available.
